Syringomas
Syringomas in the eyes: what are they?
Syringomas are benign tumors of the eccrine glands. They are multiple, skin-colored, slightly raised lesions whose diameter is 1-5 mm. They are located mainly on the lower eyelids, neck, chest. They are more common in middle-aged women.
It is one of the most common eye conditions and appears on the eyelids (usually the lower eyelid) or just below them. They usually appear in both eyes and symmetrically, especially in women and adolescents. They can rarely be found on the cheeks, armpits, trunk, neck, palms of the hands, soles of the feet, scalp, and genitals.
Syringoma laser treatment
At Hoogstra Medical Centers we use the Carbon Dioxide Laser for the extraction of syringomas. Dermabrasion or laser ablation is currently the most modern, effective and quick-recovery treatment that exists for this condition.
