Adjuvant Therapy

By adjuvant therapy we mean all breast cancer treatment that takes place following surgery.

A number of different factors are taken into account to help decide on an individual treatment plan for each patient including age, tumour factors (tumour grade, size and lymph node status) as well as individual receptors including Estrogen Receptor (ER), Progesterone Receptor (PR) and the HER2 receptor.

There are various types of adjuvant therapy and in breast they include:

  • Prognosis
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hormone Therapy
  • Herceptin (Trastuzumab)
  • Radiotherapy
