Tom Brady (45) announced his retirement on Wednesday via Twitter.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback said, “I’ll get straight to the point: I’m retiring for real. I know it was a big deal last year, so I decided to press’record’ this morning and let you know.
He joked that he wouldn’t be too long-winded. This day, I am truly grateful. Thank you

The announcement came just hours after Brady hit the red carpet at the “80 for Brady” premiere in L.A., where he posed with the film’s stars Rita Moreno, Sally Field, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.February 1, 2023

“Extra’s” Rachel Lindsay caught up with Tom, who opened up about going from the gridiron to the big screen.
She asked, “Will Tom venture more into acting?” He said, “Sports are kinda predicable, so that is really why I loved doing this… But it was really about friendships and relationships, resilience and overcoming adversity.” “
Brady continued, “I thought it was a great chance to get out of my comfortable zone a bit… We’ll be seeing what the future looks. I’m just taking it one day at a time. “
Lindsay was asked what movie genre he would like to explore. Tom replied, “Oh, man…I love drama.” It was just good drama. It has a lot of depth and keeps people interested throughout. “
Fonda previously stated that she felt weak at the knees when she met Tom. But does he feel nervous around his movie-star co-stars?
He admitted, “I was completely nervous walking on set. I was sitting down with Lily, going through our scenes. It was difficult because they make it seem so fluid. I don’t know when they act or when they say cut. It was not easy, but it was enjoyable. It’s amazing to see all of it come to life. “
The seven time Super Bowl champ played for the New England Patriots. He has won more Super Bowls than any other player ever in NFL history. His final Super Bowl win was in 2021 with the Buccaneers.
Brady previously announced plans to retire in February 2022, but changed his mind and played with the Bucs one more season.
During that season, he went through a very public divorce with wife Gisele Bundchen after more than 10 years of marriage.
