This week, Curitics Health announced the launch of its new delivery center, home to top-tier talent dedicated to addressing the crucial technology issues surrounding value-based care. This center, based in Noida, India, is home to the development of the company’s state-of-the-art, low-code platform, Curitics Pulse 3.0, designed to improve the value-based care landscape significantly.

Value-based care is a healthcare delivery model where providers are paid based on patient health outcomes rather than the quantity of healthcare services delivered. While the shift from fee-for-service to value-based care has many potential benefits, such as improving patient health and reducing healthcare costs, there are also significant challenges, including data management, patient engagement and care coordination.

Curitics is poised to solve these challenges through:

Data Management – The transition to value-based care necessitates seamless integration and sharing of vast amounts of data among various stakeholders. Curitics’ cutting-edge data management system enables efficient data exchange and incorporates advanced analytics to provide insights into patient care and costs.

Patient Engagement – Curitics empowers patients to take a more active role in their care. Through its patient portal, patients have access to their health information and educational materials and can directly communicate with their care team, promoting a more proactive and personalized healthcare experience.

Care Coordination – Coordinating care among various healthcare providers is often complex and challenging. Curitics simplifies this process by providing a unified platform where providers can share patient information, communicate effectively and jointly develop care plans.

“Curitics represents a revolutionary step forward in the approach to value-based care,” says Chris Pempsell, co-founder and chief product officer at Curitics Health. “By combining the most advanced technology with top-tier talent, we’re creating a platform that will enable healthcare providers to deliver better outcomes for their patients and improve the overall efficiency of their operations.”

Curitics partners with healthcare organizations to rapidly develop in-clinic and virtual care programs that enrich patient care, improve provider experience and meet the dynamic needs of health plan payors. Initial service offerings support health plan payors, virtual care providers and home health vendors and will eventually expand to include behavioral health providers, managed service organizations (MSOs) and disease-specific program vendors for diabetes, chronic heart failure and COPD.

MiHIN Modernizes and FHIR’s Up Its Health Information Exchange With Smile

MiHIN Modernizes and FHIR’s Up Its Health Information Exchange With Smile

A rigorous evaluation process led to Smile Digital Health becoming the Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services’ data fabric partner of choice to meet the interoperability needs for health data utility.

Smile Digital Health (Smile), a leading Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) health data fabric and exchange solutions provider, today announced a partnership with the Michigan Health Information Network Shared Services (MiHIN) on the implementation of its next-generation health information exchange (HIE) platform. MiHIN is leveraging Smile’s Health Data Fabric (HDF) in this next phase of its digital transformation.

MiHIN is Michigan’s non-profit state-designated HIE, providing critical and comprehensive patient information to doctors, clinics, federally qualified health centers, hospitals, pharmacies, health insurance providers, and public health in Michigan. Over the last 15 years, MiHIN has set the national standard for building health information networks in an equitable and sustainable manner.

Smile’s HDF enables field-leading next-generation HIEs, offering best-in-class security, scalability, performance, composability and innovation acceleration tools. MiHIN will use Smile to future-proof its modernization investment by building an open standards ecosystem and cloud native computing. Along with Smile’s robust privacy and security certifications, its scalability allows for MiHIN to enhance services to its Michigan customers and fast-track growth for MiHIN’s national subsidiary HIE network operated by Velatura Public Benefit Corporation. MiHIN and Velatura will use its new FHIR advanced HDF from Smile to enable new and advance data sharing use cases and analytics services that will assist in the transformation of care and support Velatura’s gateway hub as part of the national Patient Centered Data Home (PCDH) initiative.

“Enabling meaningful health data sharing hinges on open standards, freeing information from silos and fostering seamless integration between data and care,” said Dr. Tim Pletcher, Executive Director of MiHIN. “Smile’s steadfast dedication to open standards perfectly aligns with MiHIN’s unwavering drive to establish a forward-looking and market-responsive HIE, facilitating the seamless integration of clean, actionable data, real-time quality measures, point-of-care clinical insights, and more.”

MiHIN had to consider many necessary attributes when planning the modernization of its HIE and how Smile could support the transformations. Smile’s event-driven design was a requirement to enable real-time data exchange and updates. MiHIN also needed Smile’s open standards-based platform to ensure seamless interoperability between the healthcare ecosystem stakeholders and data utilizers.

“Quality healthcare requires quality data and insights to ensure positive patient and population health outcomes. MiHIN’s use-case factory and equitable business models are a perfect match for our FHIR data platform to ensure the safe, just-in-time, delivery of contextualized information wherever the patient chooses to get their care. This move ensures that they can scale with growing data volumes due to increasing demands as they grow with Velatura,” said Shane McNamee, MD, Chief Growth Officer, Smile Digital Health. “A next-generation HIE will significantly improve healthcare data exchange and overall patient care. We’re proud to play a crucial part in MiHIN’s continuing digital transformation.”

Mary Lantin, General Manager of Availity Clinical Solutions, commented, “So many of today’s, and tomorrow’s, critical healthcare initiatives require the use of FHIR data. As a long-time technology partner to MiHIN, we are delighted to continue to support MiHIN’s best-of-breed FHIR strategy in cooperation with Smile Digital Health. Availity Fusion for clinical data upcycling, and proven and scalable FHIR conversion and FHIR streaming, ensures that data that is delivered to patients and providers is the highest quality possible.”

Optimize Health, the Nation’s Leading Remote Care Company for Physicians, Has Been Named to Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Companies in the U.S.

Inc. revealed today that Optimize Health, one of the nation’s most trusted remote care platforms, has been ranked No. 679 on the annual Inc. 5000 list, the prestigious ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The list represents a unique data-driven look at the economy’s most dynamic segment — its independent, entrepreneurial businesses — and is a key achievement for a growing business.

“Optimize Health is honored to be recognized by Inc. as one of America’s most successful private companies,” said Todd Haedrich, CEO of Optimize Health. “The past two years have been transformational for Optimize Health, and being named to the Inc. 5000 is a testament to the incredible success of our customers and the industry-leading product our team has built. Now, we’re focused on further accelerating our momentum as the leader in remote care and empowering physicians, their teams and their patients to take control of their chronic conditions. Health systems, physician practices, federally qualified health centers (FQHC), accountable care organizations (ACO), and large medical groups have been turning to Optimize Health to transform their care delivery. It is estimated that 6 in 10 Americans have at least one chronic condition and more than $3.7 trillion is spent annually for the management and treatment of these conditions. Optimize Health’s clinician-focused platform built around remote care enables healthcare organizations to easily and effectively deliver remote patient monitoring, enhance the patient-provider relationship, improve practice workflows and help thousands of physicians and over 50,000 patients to gain control of their chronic conditions. Respectively, Inc. ranked Optimized Health No. 58 in Health Services.

The Inc. 5000 class of 2023 represents companies that have driven rapid revenue growth while navigating inflationary pressure, the rising costs of capital, and seemingly intractable hiring challenges.

“Running a business has only gotten harder since the end of the pandemic,” says Inc. editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk. “To make the Inc. 5000 — with the fast growth that requires — is truly an accomplishment. Inc. is thrilled to honor the companies that are building our future.”

“Being recognized as one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., in light of recent economic headwinds, shows the potential of remote care, remote patient monitoring and chronic care management. Here at Optimize, our world-class team is committed to continue delivering high-quality products and services to help physicians. We thank our physicians, their patients and our partners for putting trust in us,” says Haedrich.

FlexView + Medicai

Radical Imaging LLC, a pioneer in medical imaging informatics, interoperability, and integrations, announced today that it is partnering with Medicai, a provider of decentralized cloud-based infrastructure (PACS, VNA and exchange) that enables healthcare providers to seamlessly and securely manage and exchange imaging data. This partnership will enable Medicai’s customers to easily opt-in to use FlexView as their viewer in Medicai’s platform and FlexView’s customers to have Medicai’s ready-made solution when it is required that they use a central repository for medical images and associated patient data from multiple healthcare systems in conjunction with the viewer.

FlexView is a professionally supported, SaaS cloud medical imaging viewer created by Radical Imaging that is based on the Open Health Imaging Foundation (OHIF) framework. It is a commercial-grade, production-ready solution that can easily be incorporated into any medical imaging system, seamlessly providing the viewing and analysis capabilities for any type of medical image or workflow. FlexView adds to OHIF’s extensibility model by introducing the ability to deploy plugins at runtime. This is crucial to enable the addition of new features dynamically, such as AI-based tools, without causing disruptions or system downtime. Users will be able to discover, opt into and use these value-added services as they become available in the FlexView Extension Marketplace. FlexView will be available to the general public in September 2023.

Medicai’s cloud-based platform provides physicians with instant access to patient medical images, such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, and other relevant medical files, regardless of location. It enables them to view and analyze medical images, make diagnoses, and collaborate with other medical professionals across different healthcare settings in real-time to make more informed decisions about patient treatment. The platform is designed to be user-friendly and scalable, allowing healthcare providers to easily access and share imaging data across a network of providers.

Medicai’s interoperable medical imaging architecture enables seamless communication and data exchange between different medical imaging systems and healthcare applications, regardless of the vendor or technology used. The platform is built on industry-standard protocols, including DICOM and HL7, ensuring that it can easily integrate with other healthcare systems, such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). A vendor-neutral archive (VNA) is included, which acts as a central repository for medical images and associated patient data, and supports various DICOM standards and image formats. A set of interfaces and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that enable different systems and applications to communicate with each other is also included, promoting interoperability and enabling more efficient workflows.

“We are excited to have FlexView fully integrated into Medicai’s platform on day one of our launch of FlexView. This integration will benefit both Medicai’s existing customers and FlexView’s future customers by having a best-in-class, all-in-one medical imaging infrastructure and viewer solution at the ready when required,” said Rob Lewis, CEO of Radical Imaging.
