Following an initial diagnosis of invasive breast cancer treatment overview the majority of patients will have surgery as the first treatment in their treatment pathway. The combination of surgery +/- radiotherapy forms the LOCAL treatment of breast cancer. OVERALL treatments include hormone therapy, chemotherapy and targeted treatments such as herceptin.

Following completion of breast cancer treatment the Cambridge Breast Clinic offers a program of clinical and radiological surveillance which aims to monitor our patients closely for early signs of local recurrence at a treatable and curable stage.
During the first five years all patients will have annual mammography and breast ultrasound. In addition patient will have a clinical breast examination every six months by one of our breast surgeons.
