Screening mammography is less sensitive in younger women due to increased breast density and as a result the Cambridge Breast Clinic plans to introduce new and innovative tests that may help to improve breast cancer detection in younger women.
- Women aged 40-49 are eligible for screening mammography every year.
- Women aged >50 years are eligible for screening mammography every two years.
- Women aged 35-46 with a close family history of breast cancer should have
yearly mammography.
