Apparently, as she bags millions of dollars for her success, she is also losing huge sums of money thanks to all the copying allegations she’s been getting since her album Sour dropped! Anyone who’s been following the rising star knows that she’s been hit with various copying allegations since she released songs from her debut album, Sour.
In May 2021, Swifties and Livvies noticed that Olivia’s song “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back,” was very similar to Taylor Swifts’ “New Year’s Day” and the term that was given for that similarity was an interpolation. That basically means that parts of a record’s composition are rerecorded and turned into something new, and it’s different from sampling, which is just lifting a snippet from an original song.
