Varicose Veins (aka Spider Veins) are caused by a valvular disease in the anterior veins where the valves that keep blood from going the wrong way are damaged. When these veins are damaged, it causes pooling of the blood that is sometimes visible through the skin – varicose veins. Imagen’s Nd:YAG laser works by heating up the veins causing the vein to close; this causes coagulation. After time, the body creates new vessels and reabsorbs the blood that has coagulated from the laser.
