Dr Chondrou qualified from the Athens medical school where she also completed her training as a radiologist. She undertook her PhD degree in the University of Athens. Following a brief period as a radiologist in the imaging department of Agios Savas cancer hospital she undertook sub specialization in Geneva (Hopital Candonal) and Paris (Institut Curie, Hopital Viljuif, Hopital Sainte Antoine) in the field of breast radiology. She then gained further experience in stereotactic localization in Milan (European Institute of Oncology).
Besides her clinical duties Dr Chondrou played a pivotal role in the creation and organization of the first in Greece imaging center for breast disease in Agios Savas cancer hospital, Athens Medical Center Hospital and MHTERA maternity hospital where she serves since 1979.
